From David Nordfors at Stanford - ”Here is the live recording of the birth of the personal computer. Doug Engelbart in what today is known as “the mother of all demos”. Amazing! Its 1968 and Doug is showing off a PC network with point-and-click mouse, copy-and-paste word processing, hypertext browsing, video conference - the works! Of course, nothing of this existed before the demo, Doug and his team invented it for the occasion.”

Introducing Vimeo Music Store

Text

Today, Vimeo launched Music Store, a new service that makes it easy for creators to discover and download music for their videos.

“Finding music to use in your videos can be extremely hard,” said Blake Whitman, Vice President of Creative Development at Vimeo. “Music Store allows users to easily discover, download and/or purchase tracks without ever needing to leave Vimeo.”

Vimeo will offer more than 45,000 tracks to choose from in various genres.  The advanced search feature allows creators to search the music library either by genre or more than 100 categories of metadata from tempo to mood. Video creators can filter their search results to fit their specific scenes.

Music Store provides users with three types of licensing options:

  •  Creative Commons licenses (free, various licenses);
  •  Personal, non-commercial, web-use licenses for the casual user ($1.99 per track); and
  •  Commercial, web-use licenses for professional users ($98 per track).
